Tenuta Cantagallo

Cantagallo2

Tenuta Cantagallo, belonging to our family since 1970, extends for 500 acres in the heart of Montalbano, green hilly area between Florence and Pisa, while the other two farms, bought later, are located in Carmignano, Tenuta Le Farnete, and Chianti Classico, Podere Matroneo. Our three farms are located in great historical areas with high grape-growing and wine-making culture, according to the 1716 edict of Cosimo de’ Medici, the first Law in the world created to protect high-quality viticultural zones. These locations are bound to the decision to constantly improve the quality of our wines, hence our motto “a bottle of wine for every vinestock”. In our farms we produce, joining tradition and innovation, high level quality wines of three different DOCG (Chianti Montalbano, Carmignano and Chianti Classico) and IGT, vinsanto DOC, snap, extravirgin olive oil and flavoured oils, a wide choice of typical handmade food products (sauces, jam, pickles) cooked following old Tuscan recipes and without added preservatives or food colourings. All ten members of the family work and live in Tenuta Cantagallo, linked by the respect for the old farmers way of life and happy to help on special guests experience the country life in its recently restored old farmhouse. Located in a panoramic situation, Tenuta Cantagallo is surrounded by lush woods interrupted by oliveyards and rows of vines recalling paintings of Renaissance. The Montalbano area is famous for its handicraft tradition that evolved in the Middle ages and is still alive thanks to local masters; it also offers tourists the choice to visit either historical sites. For nature loving tourists, the area offers a wide network of trekking routes.
